Heads up

Okay, kids. Here’s how it’s going to go down.

I’m going to be doing some… “maintenance” on the blog. I’m hoping there will be very few glitches during this time, but if there are, please be patient. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly and quickly, but if not, you’ll know what the deal is.

This “maintenance” will be taking place within the week, so I’ll keep you posted about anything you need to be aware of. Also, if you notice anything quirky, or something not working quite right,  or anything missing, please bring it to my attention so it can be dealt with forthwith.

Alrighty? Cool. You guys are the best.

Things that made me go, “Hmm…” – Week 23

Last week, I said it was week 23, when really, it was only week 22. I realize such a misstep probably screwed up all of your weeks, so I apologize for the inconvenience. But really, am I the “week keeper” now? C’mon, peeps. C’MON.

You see what I just did there? I attempted to divert your attention from the fact that I have literally nothing to write about today. (And when I say, “literally”, I literally mean literally. Not figuratively-literally, but literally-literally. You pickin’ up what I’m puttin’ down?) It’s been one of those weeks. Between self-diagnosed panic attacks disguised as vertigo, to babysitting the 2nd grade class from hell… it’s just been one of those weeks.

But… I know you’re all super excited so I’ll just pull things out of thin air as I go along. Let’s get started, shall we?

Hang on… let me check Twitter. Maybe there’s something there…

  • Hillary Clinton announced her candidacy for president today. After which, everyone yawned and spent the next hour surfing the internet for “real news”.

Okay, BuzzFeed… let’s see what you have… and I swear to GAWD, it better be more interesting than what Twitter had to offer…

Facebook? Pinterest? No. You know what? I’m not even going to bother with you two. You’re already on my “suck” list.

Okay, Annie. C’mon. There’s gotta be something you can talk about. ANYTHING. FOR THE LOVE OF GAWD, WOMAN. THINK OF SOMETHING.

  • Ooh! Selfies took a huge hit this week. Everyone was all, “Selfies bad!” And then everyone was like, “Ooh! I agree!” And then some people were like, “Psh. Selfies are SO passe`.” But still others were like, “Well, I dislike them so much I’m going to dedicate an entire newspaper editorial to them!” And the Kardashians were all…

And I’m just sitting here thinking, “Duh. Double chins, anyone? How is this news?”

People are dumb.

  • Ladies! I came across THIS brilliant website this week:  www.rosegal.com  Um, vintage-inspired looks? Crazy low (and when I say low I mean, “Holy crappers! What is with these prices?!) prices? FREE shipping worldwide? Um… just go. Go there now. Guys, you can go too… if you’re into women’s clothing. Otherwise, stay here.
  • Gwyneth Paltrow is going to live off $29.00 in food stamps for a week. In case you’re curious as to how that will work out for her, let me let you down easy: She’ll probably craft some healthy, vegan, gourmet meals for her two adorable, perfectly coiffed children while using the leftovers to fertilize her naturally sustainable garden, thereby discovering a new species of plant that is not only high in anti-oxidants but also stops the aging process. Because she is Gwyneth Paltrow, and she is still better than you.

Nope. That’s it. I’m out. I’m done. I’m spent. (See? I told you it was a particularly uneventful week. This is why I need your help, peeps! If you see something funny, amazing, and cool… TELL ME, dammit! Don’t make me beg… jerks.)

Okay, so then… over n’ out, good buddies. I’ll catch you on the flip side.

Just a few teeny, tiny updates

First of all, I added a few more really awesome blogs to my Blog List. Just a few this time around, but if you check out some of the peeps I’m following on Twitter, you’ll be able to find a TON more awesome blogs that I just haven’t gotten around to adding to my blog list yet. Check them all out. They’re pretty fantastic.

Secondly, in case you’re new here, and you’re ever at a loss for what the heck I’m talking about and why I’m making up words that don’t make any sense what-so-ever… you can check out this page which will explain exactly what each word means and how it is used. You’re welcome, new visitors. You. Are. Welcome. (PSST! Regular Bloggity Peeps! Any phrases I forgot to include? Let me know!)

Thirdly, I’ve been coming across some AMAZING blog posts that are beautifully written, wonderfully insightful and hysterically funny. I try to share them either on Facebook or Twitter whenever I have the chance. AND, I’ve also been on the receiving end of people sharing some of my posts on Facebook and Twitter. It feels awesome to get kudos from fellow writers, so let’s help each other out by giving each other props on well-written pieces. For instance… go over and give this girl mad props for what she just accomplished. I mean… how awesome is that?!

Additionally, I’ve been slacking on catching up on my reading. I’m REALLY going to work on getting around to everyone’s posts at least twice a week. But seriously… cross your fingers because I’m going to need all the help I can get.

AND… lastly… it’s been a busy week for me, so if anyone… and I mean ANYONE… has any… and I mean ANY… recommendations for my “Hmm…” post this week... LET ME KNOW! I don’t care what it is at this point. Something. ANYTHING. C’mon, peeps. Help a girl out.

That’s all I have right now. Remember: Tomorrow is Friday, so that’s good, right?

Over n’ out, good buddies.

A couple of quick, itty-bitty updates.

1. The “literal” debacle of 2015 has “literally” been solved. (Check the comments for the correct answer.) Although… and I’m just spit-balling here… you UK lurkers could have helped a girl out… I’m just saying…

2. Some of you more observant ones may have noticed that I started a new blog today (not to replace this one, but to serve in conjunction with it. Calm down. Nobody panic. I’m not leaving.). And then, just as soon as it graced you with its presence, it disappeared. *Poof!* Just like that. Gone. Annie giveth and Annie taketh away. The reason for this is two-fold:

  • What I wanted to do with the site was not coming to fruition, and I kind of hit the “publish” button sooner than I would have liked. The perfectionist in me would not allow this to stand.
  • It was too difficult to manage two sites under the same WordPress account, and it was causing all kinds of confusion and complications. Therefore, I deleted it so that I could start fresh and publish when I’m fully ready.

If you were one of the observant individuals to have “liked” and/or commented on the new blog (for the full hour that it was in existence), thank you. Sorry I could not preserve your comments and/or likes. Once I have the new site up and running I will let everyone know.

3. And finally, I also updated my blog roll… somewhat. I believe there are a few additional blogs I am following that do not pop-up in my feed, so I will add those to the list as soon as I get up the gumption to check my e-mail and copy names and web addresses down. In the meantime, check out these new awesome additions.

That’s it, peeps. Catch you on the flip side.

More Blogs to Heart with All Your Heart

So, I just added a few more awesome blogs to my already awesome blog list. I also switched things up a little so some of the older blogs can enjoy some recognition near the top. Make sure you check those little gems out. They. Are. Awesome. (How many times can Annie use awesome in one blog post? Stay tuned for the awesome results…)

In other news, I’m just waiting on my wellies to get here. (Seriously. Level with me, peeps. Is it totally weird that I am RIDICULOUSLY excited about this? I mean… when they arrive in the mail, I will probably hug them. No, I’m not exaggerating. Yes, I am that thrilled about it.)

And lastly, I FINALLY posted the fourth and final installment of “The Secret Lives of Boys” series. Hopefully, I’ve said everything I need to say on that matter.

And… oh, yes… if you have any ideas for next week’s (this week’s?) Things That Made Me Go “Hmm…” post, let me know. I’d love to hear all about it.  Because, no lie, it has been a SLOOOOOW week as far as finding things that make me go “Hmm…” Mm-kay? Mm-kay.

Over n’ out, Bloggity Peeps.

Liebster Award

Ooh! Look how fancy I am. An award, and it’s German nonetheless. Ooh… so fancy. Let me stick my pinky out while I drink my coffee.

Okay, so the award isn’t German, but the word is. It actually means boyfriend, which I never understood, but can also be translated as “beloved” or “darling” or “sweetheart”. Basically, it’s a term of endearment and affection… which I still don’t really get. I mean, I love you guys, but I don’t love you guys. Hope you’re okay with that. Otherwise, things could get kind of awkward around here…

Anyhoodles, I was nominated by Josh over at My Friday Blog (which is totally a blog you should be following because he’s both hilarious and insightful) which is awesome because I’m still trying to figure out why people read and follow my inane ramblings. (Not that you shouldn’t be following me… I mean… my ramblings are pretty awesomely inane, and who doesn’t enjoy some awesome inanity from time to time? Commies, that’s who…)

Anyway… here are the rules:

1. Thank and link the person who nominated you.
2. Answer the questions given by the nominator.
3. Nominate 10 other bloggers.
4. Create 10 new questions for the nominees to answer.
5. Notify all nominees via social media/blogs.

Awesome. Let’s do this.

1.  If you could go back in time and relive part of your life, with no changes, would you and why/why not?  No. Considering the fact that I can’t make any changes, what would be the point? Why dwell on the past when you can do nothing to change it? Onward and upward, I say.

2.  What or who inspires you?  Oh, good grief… so many things. Words. Nature. Music. Kids. Charitable work. Kind people. Love. Family. Basically anything and everything that reflects God’s goodness… which, for me, is all of the above.

3.  What is your greatest memory?  Greatest memory or best memory? Is there a difference? *sigh* This is hard… um… I guess it would be being surrounded by family when my dad passed. While it was one of the hardest, most heart-breaking things I’ve ever had to deal with, it was also one of the most joyful and memorable because I had my family with me… all of us together in one place… which was pretty special.

4.  What is your biggest fear?  Not accomplishing anything in life, and letting life or other people get in the way of pursuing my dreams. Also… deep water, big dogs and pushy salespeople. But mostly that first one.

5.  What is your biggest guilty pleasure?  Coca Cola and potato chips. I shouldn’t love them. I shouldn’t eat them. But the heart and stomach want what they want. Who am I to tell them otherwise? Also? People Magazine. I hate myself for that…

6.  Which do you prefer, sunrise or sunset?  I have a feeling I would love sunrise, if I could just drag my butt out of bed that early. BUT, anyone who knows me knows that will possibly never happen considering how much I love to sleep.  Sooo…. Sunset it is!

7.  If you could change the world, what would you change?  Whoa. That’s a loaded question. Geez, Louise. Um… if I could, I would try to make people see how rewarding and fulfilling it can be to be compassionate, charitable and generous – with our time, our energies, and our money. Think of the difference we could make in the world if we were willing to help others who needed it, rather than focusing on our own greedy desires? (And no, I’m not talking about Socialism. I’m just talking about lending a helping hand to those who need it.

8.  What amazes you?  See # 2.

9.  What makes you sad?  Selfishness, bitterness, hopelessness and injustice. Also, burgers without mayo. Canadians have the right idea.

10.  Don’t you wish this award had a logo like some of the others?  It does! Looky here!

Okay, now… here are my nominations. (If you’ve already been nominated, I apologize. It’s getting harder and harder to find people who haven’t been…)

Okay, there are a ton more I would nominate, but the rules say 10, and I’m nothing if not a hardcore rule-follower.

And finally… my 10 questions, which are not going to be particularly deep or insightful so… just suck it up and deal. And then answer the questions.

  1. What is your favorite book and why?
  2. Did you believe in Santa as a kid? Were you crushed when you found out the truth?
  3. Do you have a favorite smell? I think everyone should have a favorite smell. What is yours?
  4. If you could choose one person and only one person to live with you on a deserted island for the rest of your days, who would you choose and why?
  5. If you could punch anyone in the face, who would you choose to punch and why? Be specific. I want dirt and details.
  6. What is one daily essential item you could not live without?
  7. Do you have a favorite TV show? Do share…
  8. You just won $100 million from Publisher’s Clearing House. What’s the first thing you do?
  9. What makes you laugh?
  10. Suddenly, everyone in the world recognizes your brilliance and natural leadership skills. As a reward, you get to pick one country to rule over for the rest of your life. Which country do you choose and why?

Alrighty, that’s it for me, peeps. Thanks for reading. Good luck and God speed and may the force be with you and live long and prosper and… well, you get the point.

Here is a random picture of Jon Hamm looking hot... for absolutely no reason what-so-ever. You're welcome. (Jon Hamm photographed at Barclay Hotel, Los Angeles. Prada. PRADA.COM)

Blog updates you should be aware of if you care at all about the future of humanity…

Okay, so maybe that’s overstating it a bit, but if you’re reading this post, I’m pretty sure it did the trick. Also? If Jon Hamm cares enough about these things to make an appearance on my blog and stare at you sternly, pretty sure it’s something you should care about as well. But maybe that’s just me.

So, a couple of things you should be aware of…

  1. I finally updated my blog list. Newest blogs are listed at the top. I think there are a dozen or so new ones, so if you haven’t had a chance to check those out yet, be sure to do so. They’re all pretty awesome.
  2. I will try to mix up my blog list from time to time so the ones I have been following the longest aren’t always listed at the bottom… because hey… they need love too.
  3. The Secret Life of Boys – Part 3 is currently in progress. So, if you read parts 1 and 2, and then were wondering where part 3 was… it’s still in my head. Hopefully, you weren’t all like, “What? That’s it? Well, THANKS A LOT, ANNIE. That was a big ol’ waste of my time! DIDJA HAVE A POINT?! PRETTY SURE YOU DIDN’T… YOU SILLY, SILLY WOMAN.” And quite honestly, if that’s what you were thinking, then, “BACK OFF, BUD. QUALITY WRITING TAKES TIME.” Also? Just because of your little outburst, I’m planning on withholding the next installment an extra day. See how your badgering made everyone else suffer? Not cool, bro… NOT. COOL.
  4. In case you didn’t notice, or you’re too self-absorbed to actually care… My blog has a new look. If you haven’t shared your thoughts on this… please do so here. Otherwise, I plan on withholding all love and affection from you for the near future.
  5. Lastly… I heart comments. So, if you’ve been lurking in the background wondering whether or not you should post a comment… DO IT. I love new readers and I love connecting with them. I won’t even correct your grammar. I plomise. (See what I did there?)

Alrighty, bloggity peeps. More random crap later… stay tuned.
